Arthur Cazaux Collapses Mid-Match At Miami Open In Unsettling Moment

Cazaux, dressed in a white shirt and black shorts, crumple to the ground as he began to ready himself for play to continue.

It was about nine seconds after he initially fell that a medic runs into the frame and the chair ump started to make his way over to the scene. Mayot had been serving at 1-2, 30-all in the third set when Cazaux fainted. Cazaux had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair, handing Mayot the win 6-4, 5-7, 2-1 retirement.

It’s unclear what the illness was related to, but temperatures in Miami reached around 87 degrees Fahrenheit with 70 percent humidity, according to the US Sun.

Mayot was seen in another clip posted on X walking over to Cazaux to check on how he was doing.

Mayot will face David Goffin, a former world No. 7, in his next match at the tournament.

Monday was not the first time a player collapsed at the Miami Open in recent years.

Jack Draper collapsed in 2021 during the event in his first-round match against Mikhail Kukushkin due to the overbearing Florida sun and humidity.
